BIOGRAPHY

Like many people I was unable to indulge properly in my love of painting until I retired from work.  I studied art at school but then other studies and work got in the way!  So there was a lengthy break until about ten years ago when I was grounded due to ill health for a couple of months and a friend gave me a watercolour “starter set” to keep me occupied.

I have never looked back!

I enjoy  watercolours and love the clear fresh colour they produce, but I also work with acrylics and enjoy the freedoms they allow.   I am not sure which medium I prefer, but when I see something I want to paint there is never any doubt in my mind as to which medium will work best for me.

I now work with fused glass as well and have a small kiln at home.  Glass presents different challenges from painting, but I adore the colours and effects that glass allows. I love experimenting with glass!

I exhibit regularly at local Art Society shows and have won several awards for my work, including the Leisure Painter award at Patchings in 2010.  I also held a very successful solo show in Hythe in 2011. I have taken part in Bucks Open Studios (now Bucks Art Weeks) each year since 2011. This summer I exhibited at the Green Dragon Eco Farm MK18 3LA along with 10 other artists.  I have sold my work both in the UK and abroad.

As you will see from my gallery, I have not specialised in any one topic for my paintings.  If I see something and am inspired by it, then I will have a go at painting it!
